Good evening to all and may all your lights work.
Led christmas light strand not working.
I encountered the age old problem of half the strand not working.
This year i got an early start on my lightscape so i had time to troubleguess the offending strand.
This year however a bunch of the bulbs did not light up right in the middle of them all as my wife quickly informed me.
Led christmas lights.
The christmas light tester will indicate which bulbs are bad and need to be replaced.
Led stands for light emitting diode and the colors they produce are both stronger and purer than dye coated incandescent lamps.
Sixty bulb led christmas lights are built from two half strings of 30 bulbs each.
Check the entire strand of lights for a missing damaged or abnormal looking bulb according to the christmas light company website.
If none of the individual bulbs are faulty but the light string still refuses to light up there is a chance the shunt wires in the light string are faulty.
As i mentioned earlier the removal of a light will increase the current and led s do not like high current.
I inspected the wire for.
With the faulty led light removed the light string half that did not work is now working minus 1 light.
Some christmas light testers work by having you slide each christmas light bulb through a hole.
If after all the testing the light string still doesn t illuminate it s time to get some new lights.
Second test the christmas light bulbs with an inexpensive tester available where holiday lights are sold and online usually changing a problem bulb or tightening it will fix the entire strand.
This is how i fixed many led string lights.
I measure the current in the light string half that was not faulty and it was 9ma.
When working correctly there is a wire shunt in the string that bypasses each of the individual light bulb sockets.
If this is your problem carefully replace the bulb after first unplugging the string of lights.
You may find that the bulb has a black or silver looking stain on the inside.
To fix christmas lights if the entire string goes out start by unplugging the string and opening the fuse case which is the plastic box attached to the electrical prongs.
I discovered it before i put it up on the eaves.
If a fuse is black or has a broken wire inside gently pry out the blown fuse with a thin screwdriver.
It s a tedious task but an assured way to find the problem and bring light life back to the non working string o.
Christmas lights are the strings of little electric light bulbs often used on christmas trees or to decorate homes or yards.
